Project Life 2012 - Week 5

Another Week finished!

Here's week 5 ..

I used the school theme since I was back working for a few days this week.

I'm really loving the colours here.
Most of the stuff I used is Fancy Pants - Off to school range.

Project Life 2012 - Week 4

I'm on a roll today!!

Here's week 4 ...
Australia Day Week!

I included an insert in this week. One side is FatMumSlim's January Instagram Challenge which I shared with you all here. The other is a collage of Australia Day photos.

The Places card was a free download from Miss Tiina you can find here.
I added the favourite using a stamp.
I blanked out a few faces with lovehearts for privacy.
I loved getting in the blue, red and white theme for Australia Day :)

Project Life 2012 - Week 3

Finally getting around to finished off my nearly finished layouts. I'm hoping to catch up this weekend. I'm crossing my fingers!

Here's week 3 ...

I did some hidden journalling with an inside story card.

There is still one more thing to finish off. I recorded the girl's height and weights but put them in a safe place. I now can't find them! I'm kicking myself because I usually record them in my diary.

Also I was a bit short on photos this week so I took some photos of some views from the different doors of my house. I did the front, side and back. I loved this idea for filling in my week. No need to panic about a lack of photos!

Pantry Tidy-up

It was time for a BIG pantry clean out and tidy-up.

Check out below - It used to look like this once! It was too cluttered for my liking. Some more tupperware modulare mates have helped.

I'm off to another tupperware party tomorrow so I'll order some more. I want to start replacing my old blue ones for super ovals (much deeper).

Valentines Wrap Up

Happy Valentine's Day for yesterday everyone.

The day started for us as usual. Miss J awake at 5.30am. Hubby was nice to me and got up to give her a bottle and then made me a coffee. Then lucky me got a lovely card telling me how much he loves and appreciates me. It means the world to me to just feel appreciated. He found this in the fridge when he was getting ready for work ..

During the day Miss Molly and I decorated the hall table with some of the craft she had done. Then we made some yummy cupcakes.

You really don't need to spend loads of money on Valentines Day to let the people you love feel special. Its the little things that matter so much!

Ham, Cheese and Pickle Scrolls

An easy peasy morning tea for us today.

1. Puff Pastry sheet out of the freezer
2. Spread with sweet mustard pickle.
3. Add chopped ham.
4. Cover with grated cheese.
5. Roll up and cut.
6. Bake in 220 (200 fan forced) oven until puffy and slightly browned.

Hint: Make sure you don't squash it when you cut. If you do just spread it back out with your fingers.
The pastry needs room to spread when cooking.

Nappy Basket Project

Now that I'm working here and there I needed to have a more fool proof system at home for other people looking after my kids. Occasionally my sister-in-law, mother-in-law or nieces may care for my children and well my husband and I know where everything is but they get a little confused.

One issue is nappies. Both the girls have pink huggies nappies and even though they are in different sizes they are so similar it can be hard to tell for others. So I grabbed these two baskets I had bought at Red Dot last year and decided they would helped. I went to a spotlight and bought two letters for about 90c each. I painted them and stuck them on the side of the baskets. I used superglue and I think it was my first incident free super glue application ever!!

And as Molly would say Ta da....

So now my girls will hopefully not end up in the wrong sized nappies again :)

Outstanding Customer Service!

Recently I experienced some outstanding customer service and just had to share it with you all. Some of you may remember that for Christmas one of my top 5 were some diamond earrings because my white gold ones with 'similated diamonds' broke.

Well I went in before Christmas to find out how much some new ones would cost and it was definitely out of my budget at that time so a week later I decided to see if I could get my old ones fixed. I decided it was best to take them in to where I had bought them to get them fixed. They said they would sent them off to their repairer and ring me with an estimate of how much it would cost. Well I never got that call (but my fault because I gave them the wrong phone number). Anyway Christmas came and went and I finally got around to popping into the store to ask about my earrings. They were back and the store with a note from the jeweller saying they could not be fixed .. bummer!

But the lovely lady at the store didn't feel this was good enough and said she would send them back and try to find out why. Well after lots of back and forth and the manager contacting head office I picked up some brand new earrings yesterday. They replaced them free of charge because they couldn't repair them.

I was gobsmacked that the manager had bent over backwards for me to replace earrings my husband bought for me a couple of years ago free of charge.

I love Zamels!

Project Life 2012 - Week 2

Here's my layout for Week 2 2012

I have a brand new printer now. My last one was 8 years old and while it still worked fabulously I wanted to be able to print the odd photo at home. I t prints photos very nicely but unfortunately it doesn't print onto journalling cards easily like my last one. I'm going to have to fiddle around with this.

And this was my favourite photo of the week ...

I love the facial expressions!

January 2012 Photo a Day Challenge by Fat Mum Slim

This year I've decided to participate in Fat Mum Slim's fabulous Photo a Day Challenge.
Admittedly I fell behind quite a few times but I really felt it didn't matter and I just simply caught up later. I used Photoshop elements to put the month's photos together and printed them onto A4 photo paper at home. I'm going to pop these in my Project Life Albums at the end of each month.

Here's the link to the January Challenge.

Check out February here.

I love it! Even Danni Minoque is playing along :)

Our Australia Day Weekend - a bit late

Hi Everyone! It's okay I'm still alive!! I disappeared initially for the Australia Day long weekend. Well we made it a long weekend. When I got back I was buried in washing and needed to prepare for going to work.

Yes you heard me correctly I said work. I decided this year to start dipping my toe back into working. I'm only working a few days here and there but I needed to get organised. I haven't taught for 2 and a half years. I have to say .. I LOVED it. I'm very lucky to love what I do and it's given me some fresh enthusiasm for my daily life as a stay-at-home mum. Having a break from my beloved children was hard but it did me the world of good. And adult convesation should be bottled and prescribed to all mums!

Here's a little bit of what we got up to for our Australia Day weekend.
We went away and staying in a hired on-site caravan (much bigger and cheaper than the cabins that we stayed in last time). We had lots of BBQs and went crabbing a few times. The kids had an absolute ball!

And yes it was HOT!! We spent the morning at the esturary and left before it got even hotter!

In the afternoon kids and adults were all involved in water fights. Trust me it was soo hot no-one complained about getting wet! We had lamingtons, Anzac biscuits, Vegemite scrolls and little frankfurters with sauce for afternoon tea.

I hope you had a lovely weekend :)
