My little girl is growing up fast!

It's been a week since we did this to Molly's cot.

In a few months it'll be a big bed.
It's all happening too fast!

Well with a four month cutting her first tooth (a shock for me since Molly was 7 months) I have been a little distracted and Miss Molly has been up to mischief again!

She used  a pack of stamps like stickers ...

emptied a whole tissue box and

used Mum's face moisteriser like Daddy's hair product!!

On the bright side .. she had lots of fun!

Missing Daddy

My hubbie went out last night for his friends Bucks do. Actually it was day and night since it started at lunchtime! Miss Molly missed him. She kept asking 'where daddy gone?'. She seems to understand when I say at work but last night she was not happy about her daddy being out. So this is what she did ...

Molly, Daddy and Jas
Where's mummy? On the floor!!

Wanted: A Holiday!

A holiday is desperately needed by my husband and I. With the arrival of a new bub and running a business we need to take some time out and relax. Time out at home just won't cut it. Luckily we have the perfect excuse of a friends wedding. I'm so looking forward to just chilling in Bali.
We went to Bali for our Honeymoon in 2005 and did lots of tourist sightseeing and shopping. Although we also went whitewater rafting and even went camping one night. The camping was organised by a guide who was a friend of a friend. It was the most unique experience.

However this holiday is going to much more relaxing and all about drinking Pina Coladas at the fabulous Padma Resort Hotel.

I can't wait!

Painting with Water

Want a cheap, easy to prepare activity for the kids? Give them some water and a paintbrush! It rained the other day leaving a puddle of water on a paint bucket lid my husband had been using as a door stop for the front gate. Molly found it and was playing around so I nipped inside got her a paint brush, did a quick demo on the paving and she was quiet for ages!!

A Picasso in the making!!

Molly's Birthday Party IV

The Goodie Bags.

I'm not into goodie bags loaded with heaps and heaps of lollies. Each child got a small snack size glad bag with a few lollies, a fizzy candy roll, a small bottle of bubbles and a small sheet of stickers.

The goodie bags themselves were super cheap and easy. I picked up packs of eight pink paper bags from Red Dot for $2. The thank you labels were made from cutting out scalloped circles from white card (I used a 2" punch) and cutting circles from a free printable I found here (I used a 1 1/2" punch). I folded own the top, put the label on, punched a hole using a normal paper hole punch and then threaded a piece of pink ribbon through. Easy peasy and looks fab!

Molly's Birthday Party III

Finally I'm back again. I thought I had nearly recovered from a nasty flu only to find it hit me again. Then hubbie got sick too. Add a sick bub to the mix who's crying made me cry several times and the computer had a chance to gather some dust!

Now back to Molly's party ... remember food preparation had to be minimal. So we had jam rolls sliced up, pink wafer biscuits and cupcakes in mugs. My sister and niece came to rescue before the party bringing really cute tea cup biscuits and helping make jam sandwiches, fairy bread and yummy marshmallow sticks dipped in chocolate and 100 and 1000's.

Aren't these incredibly cute!

The cupcakes in a mug were really simple. I bought the mugs at Target in a four pack for $2. Just bake a normal batch a cupcakes. Cut them in half. Put the bottom half in the mug, add icing, pop in the other cupcake half, top with more icing! I however put these together at the last minute and ran out of icing. I didn't have time to make any more so I top them with a small dollop of icing, some sprinkles and popped a couple of marshmallows on the top.

I loved how these turned out.

Molly's Birthday Party II

The Cake

I all out cheated here! I used 2 Betty Crocker cake mixes (a strawberry and vanilla). I baked two cake and then once they had cooled used this fantastic Wilton's cake leveler from Spotlight to cut each cake into two and therefore giving me four layers.

One piece of advice is not to attempt this late at night when you have the flu because you will forget that the layers are supposed to go pink, vanilla, pink, vanilla!!

I also cheated and used Betty Crocker pre-made icing for between the cake layers and the outside.

The very cute Molly Cake bunting was a free printable from TomKat Studio. They have lots of different colours in pastels, brights and bolds. Love them :) I used pink and white twine and some straws I bought from The Party Studio to put them on the cake.

It was so easy and delicious. Thank you Betty Crocker for saving the day!!

Molly's Birthday Party I

Molly's Birthday Party was last Sunday. It was a great success despite the fact that I had a terrible flu leading up to the party. Many plans and ideas got sidelined and a lot of cheating occurred with store bought food. In the end it didn't matter because Molly had a great time and so did we!

I set the party in the afternoon so that Molly had a chance for a sleep before her party and I had plenty of time to do last minute preparations. I set the table up the night before so everything was ready to go. To my surprise Molly didn't touch everything on the table that morning. Phew!!

Here is a photo of the set up a  couple of hours before the party.
And below are the photos during the party.

Drinks were kept in white tubs I got from Freedom (I peeled the blue striped stickers off to get them white). I provided juice boxes, water and a few bottles of soft drink.

On the table I had a glass jar filled with ice cream lollies and marshmallows. Yum!

I used lovely bamboo cutlery from The Party Studio which I stamped with the letter m.

The Party bags were kept on the buffet next to the table.

In the next post I'll talk more in depth about the cake and food.

My Mum

I love my Mum.
My Mum is amazing. She is 80yrs old and doesn't look it or act it. When I was pregnant with Miss Molly I often thought about my mum and how she would be as a Grandma to my children. Now this is because she has been a Grandmother for a long time and now has 18 grandchildren and 2 great-children. I really thought that she would be over the whole grandkids thing and I was so wrong. She love my girls just as much as any of her grandkids.
The other day she came to visit. Mum bought Molly a sticker book and she LOVED it!

She even got on the floor to play with Jas. Getting up wasn't so easy!

I always worry about my parents not being around long enough to know my children. I always try to take lots of photos of them together so that my kids will always know how much their Grandparents loved them.
The most fabulous thing for me that day was when my mum rang me later that day to tell me that she had a lovely visit and that I was doing a fabulous job at raising my children. It actually made me cry when my Mum told me I was a wonderful mother to my children.
I love my Mum:)
